Meta-Mondrian Poppy Parker

2021 Integrity Toys Fashion Doll Design Competition Finalist

The goal of this design was to create something new and modern, as an interpretation of something Poppy Parker might have worn in the height of her career as a 1960s fashion model. I chose the fabulous design by Yves Saint-Laurent, from his Fall/Winter 1965-66 collection. YSL’s inspiration came from the equally iconic painting by Piet Mondrian.

I approached the design as a sort of challenge to bring something that is historically flat into 3D. I wanted to use squares and straight lines in a different, more scupltural way.
